Mini Review: Codename: Chimera

★★★

Three stars.

Codename: Chimera is the debut story from the couple team that is J.K. Persy. This mystery book involves a dead millionaire, a mysterious book, and a whole lot of whodunnit.

----

Overall, this story is a very solid debut. Normally when I read mystery books, I solve the problem early on, and the rest of the book becomes almost like a filler. With this book, I was left guessing until the end, which is something that I really appreciate around the plot. I also really enjoyed that the plot had to do with mythology. Research clearly went into the writing of this book!

One thing that I would have liked more of was character development. I feel like I never really got to know the characters other than on a name and career level. The writing was also a bit simple to me, but I'd rather have it be a little too simple than a little too complex.

While mystery books such as this are not my first go-to genre, I think that Codename: Chimera will find an adoring fan base. If you're in the mood for a fast paced mystery/whodunnit, then I would definitely give this book a shot.

Thank you to J.K. Persy, who gave me this book in exchange for an honest review.
